What to do when the USCIS lockbox has not cashed your check or issued a receipt number for I-485, I-765, or I-130 filings.
Step-by-Step Resolution Protocol
- Check your bank or credit card account to see if the filing check has cleared or been charged. The back of a cleared check contains the 13-character receipt number (e.g., IOE/LIN/SRC) stamped by USCIS.
- If filed with Form G-1145 (E-Notification), check both SMS text messages and spam folders.
- If 30 calendar days have passed and no check has cleared, email [email protected] with: Applicant Full Name, Date of Birth, Form Type, Tracking Number, and Date Delivered.
- Do NOT immediately re-file the packet without confirmation, or USCIS will cash both sets of filing fees.
